Sirs,

This is with reference to the news items and advertisements made by your company Nokia in leading news papers about your BL-5C battery. As a consumer forum we appreciate Nokia that you are taking care of your customers who got defective battery. We are sure this would prevent from Nokia brand getting a bad name in Indian market.

However considering the environment safety, we would request you to let us know what are your plans with respect to the defective batteries received from the consumers in India?

We would like to make sure that Nokia does not sell this batteries away to seconds market or does not throw away as garbage as well does not do landfill which might cause danger to the environment in India. Being this battery is an e-Waste, it is not possible to bio-degrade. So we would request you to let us know Nokia's plans for the safer disposal of the defective batteries.

We, 'c r e s k' initially decided to take this issue up with Ministry of Environment, Govt. of India and also to the Consumer court and media, however considering the transparancy maintained by you in terms of replacing the defective batteries to consumers in India, we found it is appropriate to communicate to you first and based on the response we get from you, we plan to move further on this issue.

Thanking you,

Sincerely,

V Srivathsan

Secretary - 'c r e s k'
